Director of Operations
Tell us something interesting about your background?
I am a true local. I was born at the original Palo Alto Hospital, which is now known as the Hoover Pavilion. I have lived in the Bay Area my whole life with the exception of the four years I left to attend college at Cal Poly. And I have worked at Stanford University in Career Education for 37 years.
What has led you to your current role?
I started my career at Stanford University working as the Manager of Reference File Services at the then Career Planning and Placement Center (CPPC). A few years later I had the opportunity to take on a new role as the department’s Business Manager which was also around the time the department changed its name to the Career Development Center (CDC). In 2015 the department changed its name to BEAM, Stanford Career Education and how it delivered career services. It was at this time that had the opportunity to fill my current role as BEAM’s Director of Operations. Same department but three different department names and three different roles.
In your spare time, what do you enjoy doing?
I really like helping others and have found volunteering for both CERT and the Red Cross as a wonderful way to support those in my community. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and hosting gathering in my home. I also enjoy playing with my two labs, Molly & Sophie. And one other activity I enjoy doing is walking. So much so I have participated in four 3-Day walks, which involves walking 60 miles in 3 days to raise funds to help end breast cancer. And I hope to participate in my fifth 3-Day Walk in the next year or two.
