Associate Dean of Career Education & Director of Career Catalysts
Tell us something interesting about your background?
I am drawn to pioneering work. In every role that I have ever been in, I have either joined when something new needed to be launched or I have helped to launch and develop new initiatives. This is not something that I originally set out to do, but as the years have gone by it has become clear that finding ways to change things at the root level to produce new outcomes is a common thread. Now that I recognize this, I approach my life and work with a heart geared towards introducing new sustainable opportunities.
What has led you to your current role?
Purpose led me to my current role--both figuratively and literally. I have worked in higher education in different roles for over 10 years. During that time I have seen numerous students whom are high ability with equally high aspirations. However, I found that after graduating many students found themselves disillusioned and struggling once they entered the workforce. To put it mildly, this bothered me and led to me conducting research on the lifewide learning experiences that helped individuals transition into doing purposeful work in early adulthood. Lastly, I believe that my own purpose is tied to helping other people fulfill their purpose. This role is one of the ways that I am able to fulfill my call and practically apply my research.
In your spare time, what do you enjoy doing?
