Considering a faculty career? Wondering what it's like to be a faculty member at a community college? Want tips on how to be a successful applicant? What skills do you need to focus on now? This session is for you if you are considering a faculty career and are interested in exploring life beyond research-focused universities. About half of the colleges in the US are community colleges. During this information session you will meet faculty members from the College of San Mateo and Foothill College. These are two of the 113 community colleges in California. These schools serve 2.3 million students! Community college faculty have great potential to help students grow and change people's lives. Join Dr. Laura Densetz, Dean of Creative Arts and Social Sciences, College of San Mateo; and Stanford alumnus Dr. Scott Lankford, Professor of English, Foothill College as they discuss the mission and culture of their schools, faculty and student life, and submitting a competitive application. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions and network with the faculty. This panel presentation is part of a series about Faculty Life and Hiring beyond research universities.
