Venture Events

A student shaking hands with an employer at a Stanford Career Fair
BEAM, Stanford Career Education

Stanford hosts 15+ Venture events during the academic year, covering a wide variety of industries, majors and degree levels. Venture are open to all students - from freshmen to PhDs & Postdocs - and are an excellent way to connect with employers to learn about opportunities and what skills they are seeking. The VentureSU (formerly known as Fall Career Fair) is our largest career connections event, and provides an opportunity for students to meet with representatives from approximately 300 employers. Additionally, we have smaller boutique events, such as the Venture Social Impact and Venture Start-up, which cater to students interested in specific sectors. Other departments  also host career connections events including the School of Engineering, School of Medicine, and School of Education.

Making the Most of Your Venture Events

It is easy to feel intimidated at a Venture Event - that's why it's helpful to do your homework ahead of time. Here are some ways you can prepare:

  • Review the list of employers attending the event in Handshake beforehand and prioritize your top preferences
  • Conduct research on the employers that are high on your preference list using sites such as LinkedIn and Glassdoor
  • Prepare questions for employers based on your goals for the event, such as career exploration or job search
  • Create your resume and bring copies with you
  • Complete your Handshake profile and make it viewable to employers
