Real World Playbook
Real World Playbook is for all Stanford student. Designed by a team of twenty-somethings who have made the mistakes and done the homework for you, this comprehensive and easy-to-understand course will help you navigate the financial, health, living, and, work-related decisions you will encounter after school. (Not to mention, it’s cartoon-based and has all sorts of tools and resources!) Link leads to a Handshake article on how to sign up.
Register with Handshake, BEAM's online platform that connects students to employers. As an alumni, you can access full-time job postings and create a profile viewable to all employers who recruit at Stanford, view a calendar of events and career fairs, and subscribe to industry email newsletters.
You will need an alumni email address to access Handshake as @stanford.edu email addresses cease to work as SSO options after 6 months of leaving Stanford.
- Please register with SAA to receive your alumni email address.
- After you have your new email address, register a new account in Handshake using that address OR request that your account be ported over to your new alumni email. You will receive a notice from Handshake with a verification code to complete the transition to your new email address.
- Processing your new account can take between 48-72 hours.
- We provide services for alumni up to 1 year after leaving Stanford.
First-year alumni are eligible for appointments with BEAM Career Coaches for help with job search strategy, career exploration, and more. Schedule your appointment via Handshake for in-person, phone or Skype appointments. If you graduated over a year ago, go to the Stanford Alumni Association’s website for a list of additional career coaches, along with guidelines on how to select a coach.
Stanford hosts 20+ career events during the academic year, covering a wide variety of industries, majors and degree levels. Venture Events are not only open to all students, but alumni as well. These fairs are an excellent way to connect with employers to learn about opportunities and what skills they are seeking.
