Ryan Morgado

Tell us something interesting about your background.
Although I graduated with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, I decided to pursue a career in higher education immediately after graduating. I am still a tech nerd at heart, but I realized that I am energized at work by having student-facing roles!

What has led you to your current role?
While pursuing my undergraduate degree I had the fortunate opportunity to take on various extracurricular leadership roles and realized how much I enjoyed giving back to my peers. As I was approaching my final year in college and reflected back on my experiences, I recognized how impactful the work of all of my past faculty and staff advisors were to my personal growth and development. After finding out that there were opportunities to work in higher education I knew I wanted to shift career paths. Over the course of my professional career I’ve supported students on a variety of topics including academic success, wellbeing, identity development, risk management, event planning, and more. I am energized by coaching students throughout their individual paths of self-discovery and I look forward to continuing that work in CareerEd.

In your spare time, what do you enjoy doing?
I am a huge fan of board games and video games! I built my own PC that I play games on regularly and love introducing my friends to new complicated board games. You can find me frequently going out to take pictures with my camera, longboarding or biking around San Jose, playing various pick up sports with my friends, or finding a new cafe or park to read.
